John Veitch
Downtown Piano Works is proud to utilize the Piano Tuning and Technical Services of Mr. John Veitch. John received his Bachelor's degree from the world renowned Berklee College of Music, in Boston, MA. John then became a technician for several New England piano retailers, until moving to the Maryland area to work for (at the time) the largest Steinway piano dealer in the United States. John provided tuning and maintenance services for customers including school systems, universities, embassies and performing arts venues in the Washington, DC metro area: The Music Center at Strathmore, Washington National Opera, Washington Ballet, Kapell International Piano Competition, American University, Howard Community College, Georgetown University, Washington Performing Arts Society, the National Symphony Orchestra and WETA Classical 90.9's program "Front Row Washington."
From 2005-2009, John provided tuning and maintenance for the piano inventory at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He has tuned for such luminaries as Marvin Hamlisch, Tony Bennet, Frankie, Valli, Billy Taylor, Arturo Sandoval, Joshua Bell, Bernadette Peters, Vince Gill, Johnny Mathis, Kathleen Battle, Denyce Graves, and many others.
John is a graduate of Yamaha's prestigious "Little Red Schoolhouse" technical program, as well as the C.F. Theodore Steinway Technical Academy. John is an active member of the Piano Technician's Guild.
Damon Dye
Downtown Piano Works also utilizes the Piano Tuning and Technical Services of Mr. Damon Dye. Damon received a Bachelors Degree in Music from West Virginia University and his Masters Degree in Music from University of Maryland College Park. Mr. Dye also studied with the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology and apprenticed with technicians who have spent over 40 years in the piano industry. Mr. Dye has been a music educator in Frederick County Maryland since 1992. Damon has tuned for some of the most famous concert artists, including Leon Fleisher, Alexander Kobrin, Emanuel Ax, Alon Goldstein, Shai Wosner, Jim Brickman and many others.
Damon has also tuned for The Weinberg Center for the Performing Arts, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and The Barbara Ingram School for the Performing Arts. Damon is an Associate Member of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild.
